SERMON ON THE MOUNT
27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’
28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
29 If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
30 And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.
The portion which we read is seventh commandment in ten commandments.
Job 31: 1, I made a covenant with my eyes; why then should I think upon a maid? if any one does not circumcise eyes and body, how God judges. Job explains in verses 4 to 6 and finally in verse 12 For it is fire that consumeth to destruction and would root out all my increase.
2 Sam 11: 1-2 we see how David uses his eyes and fell into sin and consequences which are terrible. In his family how God punishes David because of this sin.
The punishment mentioned in verse 30 is Gehenna fire, Lord explains in two other examples one in Luke 7: 36-50 and John 8: 1-12 Lord deals with these differently.
Col 3: 5 Mortify the members that is putting these members body putting to dead state, and paul explains this state in Rom 6: 11 that by Faith counting that we are dead with the Lord on the cross. And obeyed from our heart is the key for overcome the body senses to influence to commit sin.
Rome 8:13 but if you through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body shall live. 1Cor 6:9, if we allow the senses of the body not to under go through the circumcise, there is going to be judgement and punishment.
Adultery or fornication is a sin, a man commits with body and grieve the Spirit who is in him 1Cor 6: 15-20. We have a good example from the life of David and his prayer in Psalm 51: 9-10. This whole thing can only be overcome by as it is said in Rom 8:13.
