SERMON ON THE MOUNT
21 “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ 22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca ,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell. 23 “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift. 25 “Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still together on the way, or your adversary may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison.
While speaking with his disciples the Lord connects sixth commandment that thou shall not kill and what it means and what is the spirit behind, he explains in this portion.
Whosoever shall say to his brother Raca shall be in danger of council. Raca in the original word means fool. If any one says to his brother fool means that a degrading opinion is formed about a brother and speak with looked down opinion.
Whosoever shall say Thou fool ( Num 20:10-13)shall be in danger Gehenna. Fool in the original is Rebel. Rom 14: 10, we do not have the right to judge a brother. Lord will judge all of us His time.
Matthew 12:35, Every idle word will be judged. Gehenna; valley of Hinnom located at south east side of Jerusalem 2 Kings 23:10 where all the garbage is burnt down during the times of our Lord.
When we allow the Lord to live in our hearts by faith we develop love and affections towards believers and unbelievers. We will overcome the old nature of our hearts and do how the Lord wants to conduct with all.
