Matthew 5:13

Matthew 5:13

SERMON ON THE MOUNT

13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

Elisha converted barren land into fruitful land by casting the salt into spring. 2 King 2: 19

2 Cor 2: 15-17 Paul explains how his life has became savor of death unto those who rejected gospel and savor of life those who accepts the gospel.

Luke 14 : 26-35 , Lord explains the three conditions for a disciple before they decide to follow Him. Disciple is one who adheres to the instruction of master and follow them in obedience. When we compromise the principles Lord taught that means we lost the savor in us.

Mark 9: 30-32, after Lord shared with disciples about his crucifixion, the disciples did not understand what the Lord said but they were disputing who is greatest among them, and one of the disciple John has forbade another man while that man was casting out demons.

Then Lord says to his disciples further from verses 41 to 50, every sacrifice shall be salted with salt  ( Lev 2:13) . Salt which has savor stops corruption means a disciple do not fight for the supremacy, look not down at the  other brothers. If they have savor in them they will enjoy peace with one another.

1 Cor 9:19-27, Paul explains how he shown forth the savor of salt in him towards to all people to jews, those who are under law, those who are weak and he became all means to all men. He received all of them by not offending anyone. He bet his body black and blue  so that he continue to have savor  of the Lord in him.
