SERMON ON THE MOUNT
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
The passage explains the difference between verse 6 and verse 10, here it is the life in application moving to next level of life habitually doing the things of God for His glory.
In 1Pet 3:10-15; Peter explains what is the righteous person do and avoid in his life and righteous persons response to others when persecuted. In 2 Cor 4: 9 Paul explains how he suffered for righteousness sake in his ministry. In 2Tim 2: 12 Paul exhorts How when believers endure for the sake of Lord they will also rule with the Lord.
The difference explained between in verse 10 suffering for the sake of righteousness sake, in verse 11 and verse 12 suffering for the sake of Lord. Paul was chosen as vessel to suffer for the sake of the Lord. In Gal 6:17, Paul says that He carries the mark of the Lord. He suffered enough for the sake of the Lord and carried the marks of the sufferings on his body.
1 King 18: 17; 19:1,10,14; in these verses we see how Elijah suffered for the sake of the Lord. The reward was great for Elijah he was raptured with out seeing death. In 1 King 21 we see Naboth suffered and put to death just because of stand he took. In Rom 8:17 Paul explains when we suffer with the Lord we will be joint heirs with Christ in glory. In Phil 3:10 Paul explains how desires to fellowship of the sufferings of Lord. In Col 1:24, Paul says he rejoice in the sufferings for the sake of the believers. In Philip 1: 29, here it is said this is our privilege given to suffer for the sake of the Lord.
When we allow the righteousness is being done in believers then next step is Lord is using us in His service and suffer for His sake and after that He also use us for the sake of others next.
